A Parable

He started mechanically pushing her in the swing.

“Would you trade me for a thousand dollars?” she asked.

“No.”

“How about a million dollars?”

“Of course not.”

“Would you trade me for a billion dollars?”

“I wouldn't trade you for any amount of money.”

“Not even a hundred thousand million billion dollars?”

He laughed and stopped pushing. “That's more than all the money in the world,” he said. She twisted around to see his face. She could tell he was thinking it over.

“Yes,” he finally said. “I would trade you for a hundred thousand million billion dollars.”

“Dad!” she squealed, but the word turned into peels of laughter as he pushed her right over his head and went under.
